155: A storm in a tea cup, Messi madness and transfer silly season

On the new Onefootball Podcast, Dan Burke is joined by Nathalia Araújo, Daniel Cadena Jordan and Padraig Whelan. It's been a week of epic semi-finals and the gang start by dissecting the UWSNT's dramatic Women's World Cup victory over England's Lionesses. Was Alex Morgan's tea-sipping celebration disrespectful? Did Phil Neville get his tactics wrong? And why did Hillary Clinton have the last laugh? After previewing Sunday's Women's World Cup final, it's then time to look back over the Copa América semi-finals, where Brazil sunk Argentina and Peru shocked Chile. Is that it for Lionel Messi's international career? And is Brazil's name on the trophy, or could there be another twist on Sunday? And to wrap up, there's a big discussion about some of the summer transfer window's biggest movers and shakers. Neymar, Antoine Griezmann, João Félix, Rodri, Frank Lampard and many more.

146: Man City’s derby delight leaves the title race tighter than ever

On this week’s Onefootball Podcast, Dan Burke is joined by Alex Mott, Tobi Herrmann and Pádraig Whelan.

A discussion about Wednesday night’s Manchester derby leads into more analysis of the deep-rooted problems at Manchester United. Is it time for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stop living in the past, and which players should he be targeting this summer?

And where does that result leave the Premier League title race? Have Manchester City now overcome the biggest hurdle en route retaining the title, or will there be another twist in the tale?

There’s also a pretty intense title race going on in the Bundesliga, and Tobi has all the information about that, before we finish with a rare chat about good old Scottish fitba.

123: Adiós Flopetegui, Arsenal v Liverpool and the Copa Libertadores

On this week's Onefootball Podcast, Dan Burke is joined in the studio by Phil Costa, Daniel Cadena Jordan and André Gonçalves.

The boys begin by reflecting on the biggest football news of the week - Julen Lopetegui's departure from Real Madrid.

Was sacking him the right decision? Where did it go so wrong? And where do Los Blancos go from here?

There's also lashings of praise for Barcelona after their incredible El Clásico triumph.

Next, after a quick look back over Manchester City's win at Spurs on Monday night, it's time to look ahead to the big Premier League clash between Arsenal and Liverpool coming up this weekend.

Can the Gunners pull off a big result? And what will this game teach us about these two sides' title credentials?

And after a quick pit-stop in Germany, there's a big discussion on the mouth-watering prospect of River Plate taking on Boca Juniors in the final of the Copa Libertadores.

On this week's Onefootball Podcast, Dan Burke is joined in the studio by Alex Mott, Elliott Bretland and Romain Welter.

After a fascinating discussion about football’s relationship with the silver screen, the lads run the rule over this week’s Champions League action.

Why are Manchester United so far behind Europe’s elite? Are Manchester City ready to win the Champions League? Is Mohamed Salah well and truly back in business now? And what’s going on with Malcom at Barcelona?

Then it’s time to talk Premier League. Are Arsenal genuine title contenders? How is Marco Silva getting on at Everton? And which manager will win the Premier League sack race?

There’s also a preview of the rather large game taking place in Spain this week, as well as the rather large game taking place in France, and the panel answer absolutely shedloads of listener questions.

121: Sensational Sterling, Löw's woes and a big weekend ahead

On this week's Onefootball Podcast, Dan Burke is joined in the studio by Lewis Ambrose, Tobi Herrmann and André Gonçalves.

The boys start by looking back at the biggest stories from the international break.

Did Raheem Sterling silence his critics once and for all with his two goals against Spain? Are England now ready to mix it with the big boys? And was Eric Dier's tackle on Sergio Ramos the highlight of the noughties so far?

The German in the studio then talks us through exactly what's going wrong with Die Mannschaft, and there's also praise for the likes of Portugal and Gibraltar.

Next up, it's time to look ahead at the big weekend of club football ahead. Will Manchester United boss José Mourinho need to win at Chelsea on Saturday to save his job? How close is Niko Kovač to the sack at Bayern Munich? And could Neymar really go back to Barcelona?

And to finish, the gang showed just how little attention they've paid to the last week of football by pitting their wits in a surprise quiz.

After feasting on some delicious Algerian chocolate, the gang tuck hungrily into Sunday’s top of the table Premier League clash at Anfield.

Why did a game between the two best attacking sides in the country produce zero goals? What was Riyad Mahrez thinking when he struck that penalty? And what did this game teach us about Liverpool and Manchester City’s title credentials?

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Eden Hazard is on fire, Arsenal are unstoppable and Spurs are pretty handy too, but could Bournemouth be the season’s surprise package? You’ll find all the answers right here.

Next it’s time to head over to the Bundesliga, where Bayern Munich’s malady lingers on. Is Niko Kovač out of his depth and can Borussia Dortmund actually take advantage this year?

And the final part of the show is dedicated to some interesting questions from our lovely listeners.

Then it's time to delve into the turmoil at Manchester United. Will they even finish in the top four this season and what's really going on between José Mourinho and Paul Pogba?

There's also some words of praise for Phil 'The Stockport Iniesta' Foden and a preview of the big game coming up between Chelsea and Liverpool this weekend.

After that, it's time to talk all things LaLiga. Is Lionel Messi out to prove a point after he was snubbed for FIFA's The Best award? How are Real Madrid coping without Cristiano Ronaldo? And why can 37-year-old Joaquín now die happy?

This past week saw some very interesting rumours emanating from Paris and from west London. The Paris ones were linking Thomas Tuchel to the PSG job and the London ones had Antonio Conte fired. Now one of those was total rubbish (for now?) but the other one is an interesting one.

Is the Tuchel really the right man? What sort of problems will he face? What does he need to change at the club? And as for Chelsea, it seems like it is only a matter of time now before Conte says so long to Stamford Bridge but who will be the man to replace him? Well that is an interesting question.

94: Liverpool destroy Manchester City and Ronaldo reaches new heights

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Lewis Ambrose, Dan Burke and pod debutant Philip Costa

This week's edition kicks off with the Champions League ... and what a week it was. Liverpool tonked Manchester City. Cristiano Ronaldo jumped to high to score a bicycle kick he almost mistook the Moon for the ball. Bayern nearly threw it away in Sevilla. And Roma scored three goal at the Camp Nou and still came away as losers.

All of that, as well as your questions, is debated and discussed on the opening part of the podcast.

For part deux, we are staying with the Premier League. There is a huge weekend ahead in the Premier League with not one but two massive cross-city games in Everton v Liverpool and Chelsea v West Ham United. Oh. And there is the small matter of the Manchester derby, a derby in which City can claim the Premier League title. It does not get much bigger than that, does it?

And if you're lucky, there may even be some Alan Pardew chat, too.

93: What we learned from the internationals and Ibra makes MLS move

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Daniel Cadena Jordan, Dan Burke and Danny Issroff.

After the international break and before the return of top league action, it is time to see what we all learned from the games involving the big sides from Germany to Argentina via Brazil and a couple of others big sides in between.

After that it has been a few weeks since the MLS got its own spot to it is time to correct that. The season may be just a few games old but there are already a number of interesting storylines opening up and, of course, there is the arrival of the man himself: Zlatan.

But that is not all ...

92: CL review and how the big boys are shaping up ahead of Russia 2018

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's André Gonçalves, Helge Wohltmann and Alex Mott.

First up is the Champions League draw. There has been a few days for the team to ponder over it all so it is time to ask some questions. Do Roma have a chance? Are Juventus underdogs against Real Madrid? And who will be progressing to the next round? All of that and more is answered.

It is international break this week, so it is to take stock of what is going on with some of the major nations around the world ahead of Russia 2018. That means a path from Germany to Brazil via Spain and England and the major issues surrounding the squads of the World Cup.

91: Out go Man United, boring Bundesliga and the state of West Ham

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and Emilie Rauschütz.

This week's edition of the podcast gets going with Champions League with the big, big news and that is Manchester United's exit from the Champions League. Who is to blame? What could have been done differently? And what on Earth is going on with those post-match quotes from José Mourinho?

After that it is on to the rest of the Champions League action from Barcelona v Chelsea to Besiktas v Bayern via Roma v Shakhtar.

With that done, it is time to talk about the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich are almost certainly going to win the title in record time despite the poor showing in the first part of the season. What does this say about the Bundesliga? And what is its future? The team discuss that and more.

And the final topic up for discussion this week is West Ham. The team is a mess, the fans are unhappy and the club is at a crisis point. But how and why has all of this come about? Dan has the answers to that and more.

90: PSG crash out, measuring Manchester United and el Superclásico

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Daniel Cadena Jordan and Alex Mott.

This week's edition of the podcast kicks off with the biggest games of the week: the Champions League. PSG are out. But who is to blame? Would it have been any different if Neymar had been there? And what do PSG need to do to step up to the next level.

After that there is some Spurs chat as well as a few words – and we mean a few – on Manchester City and Liverpool's progression.

With that out of the way, it is time to talk about what is, traditionally, one of the biggest games of the Premier League season, Manchester United v Liverpool. Since Liverpool got so much love last week, the focus is on Manchester United. And there are so many things to talk about. Has it been a disappointing season by their standards? How has Alexis got on? And how will Mourinho stop the Liverpool attack?

After that, it is time to get excited about el Superclásico, Boca Juniors v River Plate. It has been a poor season for River but not so for Boca. The team talk about that, the return of Carlos Tevez and why so many clubs are eying up Gonzalo Maroni.

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and Daniel Issroff.

It has been too long since the pod crew sat down and heaped some praise on Liverpool so they start off by correcting that. With that done it is time to get down and dirty with the return of MLS action this weekend.

With that out of the way, it is time to get Onefootball's Francesco Porzio on the phone to talk Serie A and the Derby della Madonnina. Why are Milan so good all of a sudden? And why are Inter so bad all of a sudden? Francesco has the answers to that and more ahead of a huge weekend in Italy.

88: Messi tames Chelsea, Bundesliga blues and League Cup final time

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and Konstantin Keller.

First up is the Champions League. The starting point is the biggest game of the week, the one that saw Barcelona travel to Chelsea and the one that saw the Blues put in an impressive performance as Leo Messi finally proved he was a good player by scoring against a team he rarely plays against.

Elsewhere, there is time to tackle Bayern's easy win, Manchester United's trip to Spain and Roma v Shakhtar Donetsk before some foolish predictions, that are almost certainly going to come back to bite, are made.

With that out of the way, it is time to talk about the Bundesliga. Germany's top division recently had its first ever Monday night game and it did not go down well with the fans around the country. Konstantin is on hand to talk about that as well as the future for German football.

Finally, this weekend sees the first domestic trophy being handed out in England as Manchester City take on Arsenal in the League Cup final. Will it be the first link in Pep Guardiola's quadruple chain? Or will Arsenal be on hand to spoil the party. Dan has the answers to that a lot more.

87: Ronaldo rocks PSG to sleep and the incredible story of Eibar

In this week’s podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom’s André Gonçalves and Alex Mott.

And there is so so much to talk about. They kick off with the all the Champions League games and, to be exact, the big one: Real Madrid v PSG. It was billed as Ronaldo versus Neymar but it is obvious which one came out on top. But where and why did it all go right for Madrid and wrong for PSG? The crew have the answers to that and more.

With that done, it is time to chat about Spurs’ magnificent comeback against Juventus as well as Manchester City’s crushing of Basel and Liverpool’s even better crushing of Porto.

And finally, it is time to turn attentions to LaLiga. You may think it’s all about Barcelona and Real Madrid but there are plenty of other interesting stories going on and one of the best of the season concerns Eibar. Elsewhere, the crew ponder the chances of a proper title race and clear up AOB in Spain’s top division.

86: Chelsea’s woes, Serie A and the Champions League returns

This week on the podcast, Dan Burke is joined in the studio by podcast debutants Alex Mott and Francesco Porzio.

Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea suffered their second humbling defeat on the bounce on Monday evening. Is this the end of Antonio Conte and if so, who should Roman Abramovich be looking to replace him with?

Elsewhere in England, there was an incredible game of football at Anfield on Sunday, but were the two very contentious refereeing decisions the most compelling argument for video technology yet?

There’s also the small matter of the North London derby to look forward to at Wembley this weekend. Harry Kane v Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who will prevail?

Over in Italy, there’s a proper title race going on. Can Napoli break Juve’s Scudetto hegemony and what’s going wrong at the two Milan giants?

And with all that nonsense out of the way, it’s time to look ahead to the glorious return of the Champions League. Who will make it through to the last eight and who, if anyone, could be the team to prise the trophy from Real Madrid’s cold, dead hands?

85: The transfer window slams shut but Beckham's MLS dream gets going

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and Daniel Cadena Jordan.

The January transfer window is done and dusted. And what a spectacular transfer window it was, with so much happening in the final day. The team analyse all the biggest deals and give their verdicts on how they think the deals will go.

In the midst if all the transfer news, you might be surprised to learn that some actual football happened in the Premier League and, you might also be surprised to learn, there is a heck of a lot to talk about whether it be the tackles on Manchester City's players or the poor performance of Manchester United – yes the Onefootball podcast is part of the global media bias against Manchester United – or the rebirth of Swansea.

With all that done, it is time to turn our attentions to MLS and the new franchise launched by David Beckham on Monday. Daniel is in place to give a brief history of football in southern Florida as well as a timeline of the deal and much more.

84: Sánchez v Mkhitaryan, Neymar's troubles and why Napoli will win Serie A

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Lewis Ambrose, Emilie Rauschütz and Andrea Agostinelli.

First up is the topic that is on everyone's lips for January: transfers! Alexis Sánchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have finally swapped clubs but who is getting the better deal? The team debate that one before moving onto to the rest of the latest transfer news.

After that it is time to go continental and talk about some of the troubles at PSG and just what is going with Neymar?

With that done, we do our best to explain the Uefa Nations League and then it is off to the Bundesliga. The title race may be over but there is plenty to talk about at the bottom of the league, as well as with Bayern's latest signing.

Finally, it has been so long since we talked all about Serie A, so it is time to correct that. Will Napoli win the league? Why are Roma selling their best players? Is Rafinha able to help Inter? Andrea is on hand to answer all that and more.

83: Rotten Real Madrid and the future of Alexis Sánchez

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's André Gonçalves and Lewis Ambrose once again.

First up is the topic that is on everyone's lips at the moment: the future of Alexis Sánchez. He is obviously on his way out of Arsenal but now that Manchester City are out of the race, where will he end up? Chelsea? Manchester United? And how would he fit into those teams if he does go there?

After that, the other big move on the horizon is Arsenal's move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But why is he on his way out of Dortmund? And is he really the right player for the north London side? The team have their say on that and that awkward Ryan Giggs video.

With that out of the way, it is time to talk about Real Madrid. They are now closer to the relegation zone in LaLiga than they are to Barcelona at the top of the table. But where is it all going wrong? Up front? at the back? In the middle? On the bench? Off the field? With that done, there is just enough time to get some appreciation in for the retiring Ronaldinho.

82: Transfers! Transfers! Transfers! (and some football stuff)

In this week’s podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom’s André Gonçalves and Lewis Ambrose.

You know it’s January when it’s dark outside, everyone is depressed and there are more transfer stories than you can shake a stick at. With that in mind, it is time to talk all about the biggest deals so far, including (but not limited to) Coutinho’s move to Barcelona, Virgil van Dijk’s transfer to Liverpool and Ross Barkley to Chelsea.

With that done, there are questions from listeners to be answered and there are questions re Arsenal to be answered. Arsène Wenger’s side are now out of the title race, out of the Champions League and out of the FA Cup. If he were to leave in the summer, would the club be in a worse state than when he arrived? And was he wrong to have a pop at the referees and their treatment of the north London club?

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Daniel Cadena Jordan and Emilie Rauschütz.

They get down to business by starting with the biggest game of the weekend and maybe of the season: El Clásico! What are the talking points for each side? Where will the game be won and lost? And a whole lot of other questions are put out there to be fawned over like a spoiled cat.

With that done, it's time to move onto the second biggest game of the week (sorry, Arsenal v Liverpool): Der Klassiker!  What has changed so far under Peter Stöger? And what  has changed so far under Jupp Heynckes? And who is going to win? We have the low-down on all that and more.

The fun does not stop there. It is our last podcast this year so we have a look back at some of the highlights, lowlights and the best of the rest from the season so far.

79: The Manchester derby, miserable Madrid, alt-Ballon d'or and MLS Cup final preview

In this week's podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and André Gonçalves and there is so, so much to talk about.

They start off by previewing the biggest game of the Premier League season so far, the 175th Manchester derby. Dan wants to heap praise on Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph but there are questions (and worries) surrounding City's forward duo. United also have some worries of their own. Without Paul Pogba, how is José Mourinho going to set up his side? We also answer your questions about the big game.

With that done, it is time to move onto to the biggest (individual) prize in (the team sport) of football: the Ballon d'or. By now, we all know who is going to win but if he, or the only other two players who could win don't, who would be a worthy winner? Speaking of winning, that is not something Real Madrid have been doing a lot of lately. André breaks down why that is happening.

And there is more. Daniel Issroff phones in from New York to give us his previews ahead of Saturday's MLS Cup final between Toronto and Seattle. He also has his say on the whole ordeal with Columbus Crew.

They start by addressing the much-expected sacking of Vincenzo Montella. Was it the right thing to do? And what is the future for Milan after this?

The Serie A fun does not stop there as there is loads to talk about from the pointless Benevento to the huge game on Friday night that sees Napoli take on Juventus.

With that done, it is time to talk Bundesliga and what a weekend it was there. There was that 4-4 draw, there was Bayern losing their first game under Jupp Heynckes and the continued poor form of Köln – they have played 13 games and picked up two points. Yikes.

And there is more. Friend of the pod and French football expert Andrew Gibney is on the phone to talk about all that is going on with Ligue 1 from the big game at the weekend that saw PSG beat Monaco to the rebirth of Lyon and Memphis Depay.

77: A World Cup senza Italy, Tite’s Brazil & the NLD

In this week’s podcast, Dan Burke is joined behind the mic by the Onefootball newsroom’s Konstantin Keller and Nathalia Araújo.

We now know who will be participating in next summer’s World Cup but the most glaring omission from the 32-team list is Italy. What has happened to the Italian game and is Gian Piero Ventura the most stubborn coach in the history of international football?

One nation who will be dazzling us in Russia next summer is Brazil, however, and Nathalia talks us through where it’s all gone right for the Verde Amarela since that 7-1 defeat by Germany at the last World Cup, how Neymar’s world record transfer to PSG went down in his homeland and why Gabriel Jesus is definitely the new Ronaldo.

Next up, Phil Costa from Tifo Football got on the blower to talk all things North London derby. Is Arsène Wenger’s time up at Arsenal? Have the Gunners got a chance this weekend? And can Spurs – or, indeed, anybody – catch Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title?

There was also some reminiscing about the best match the panel have ever witnessed in the flesh and even a rare bit of Berlin football chat for once.

In this week’s podcast, Dan Burke is joined in the studio by the Onefootball newsroom’s Tobi Herrmann and Andrea Agostinelli.

Over in Italy, Andrea assesses the main contenders for the Scudetto – including his beloved AC Milan – and tries to get to the bottom of the myriad of problems for poor, poor Benevento.

Then it’s time to talk international football. Andrea confidently predicts Italy will get through their play-off with Sweden without a hitch, Tobi confidently predicts Germany will retain the World Cup and English Dan is naturally pessimistic about the Three Lions chances of doing anything.

In this week's podcast, caretaker manager Dan Burke is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Lewis Ambrose and Emilie Rauschütz.

They start the show by reflecting on an exciting week of Champions League action, specifically Tottenham's terrific trouncing of Real Madrid at Wembley, magnificent Man City's win away at Napoli and boring, boring Barça.

With that out of the way, it's time to look ahead to a huge game in the Bundesliga as champions Bayern Munich travel to Borussia Dortmund in a fixture the locals like to call Der Klassiker. Where has it all gone right for Jupp Heynckes, what's happened to Dortmund lately and will Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ever score again?

Meanwhile, in the Premier League there's a bona fide Super Sunday to look forward to as Chelsea host Manchester United and Arsenal travel to Manchester City. 73: The genius of De Bruyne, Real Madrid v Spurs and what is going wrong with USA?

In our latest podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Lewis Ambrose and Daniel Issroff.

They start off this week's pod by getting down and dirty with Dortmund's defeat at the weekend. It was their first loss at home in 41 games and it came in some controversial circumstances. That is all analysed before moving on to the rest of the interesting action in Germany over the weekend including Hertha's taking of a knee and Bayern's win.

With that done, it is time to look at the Premier League and the genius that is Kevin De Bruyne. He was incredible in Manchester City's thumping of Stoke but is he the best player in the Premier League? Elsewhere there was an almost to-be-expected defeat for Arsenal and some really incredible quotes from Troy Deeney.

With that done and dusted, it is time to talk Champions League. One of the biggest fixtures of this group of games is in Spain and it involves Real Madrid welcoming Tottenham Hotspur to the Santiago Bernabéu. That is previewed along with some of the other tasty Champions League treats like City v Napoli and Sporting v Juventus.

And finally, last week saw the embarrassing exit from the World Cup process for the USA team.  Why has it gone so wrong? Who will replace Bruce Arena? And what is the future of the team? Danny has the answers.

There is Egypt, there is Salah's nerves of steel, there is the demise of the Netherlands, there is an update on what is happening with Syria, there is Martin O'Neill's unusual contract situation and lots, lots more beside that.

Elsewhere, There has been some incredible action in the World Cup qualifiers in South America. Brazil are already in so there are still plenty of places up for grabs and it – shock, horror – Argentina and Leo Messi may be one of the teams that misses out. It's a complicated situation but luckily Dan is at hand to explain it all.

Finally, since we lat recorded, Bayern Munich have sacked Carlo Ancelotti and replaced him with Jupp Heynckes. Where did it all go wrong? What is the right thing to do? Will Heynckes be out of touch? And what is the future of Bayern? Nick has the answers.

71: Marvellous Morata, Ronaldo's 'crisis' and the greatest ever European Cup story

In our latest podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and Lewis Ambrose

They start off this week's pod by (talking about the Krays!) marvelling over the marvellous Álvaro Morata and assessing his hat-trick against a poor Stoke side. With that done, it's time to analyse the  Diego Costa transfer, before moving on to the so-called crisis with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and coming back to the Premier League and assessing Coutinho and his goal at weekend – by assessing we mean, saying it was not all that good!

With that out of the way, it is time to talk Champions League. We answer the big questions. Are Napoli this year's Monaco? Are Dortmund good enough to take on and beat Madrid? And just what the hell is going on at PSG? Also: can a Bayern side that could only draw with Wolfsburg really beat back all that Parisian attacking talent?

And there is more. Friend of the pod, Nick Miller from the Guardian, joins on the line to reminisce about the great Brian Clough. He is the man who ensured that Nottingham has more European Cups than London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow and Rome combined. He is also the man who made his European Cup winning keeper train on a roundabout. It's a story worth waiting till the end of the pod for.

70: A fiver per goal, terrific Toronto and the return of FC Hollywood (yeah baby!)

In our latest podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Danny Issroff and in-the-flesh Daniel Cadena Jordan

They start off this week's pod by revealing what they learned from weekend's action which is a list that includes an incredible picture of Chris Froome, the Newcastle player who gets a fiver from his mum every time he scores as well as the fact that Arsenal can actually play in an organised fashion and Barcelona have done something to Karma.

With that out of the way, it is time to get talking MLS. With just a few games to go before the playoffs, the lads answer the big questions. Are Toronto FC one of the best MLS teams ever? What has gone wring at Dallas and Galaxy? And who is going to miss out on the playoffs? There is also a lot of love for Atlanta (and less love for Kevin Doyle).

And there is more. Daniel is on hand to breakdown the return of FC Hollywood AKA Bayern Munich. Players are throwing their jerseys, players are talking trash about the club, other managers are saying they are coming for Carlo, they are getting beaten by Hoffenheim, Lewandowski is getting linked with Madrid left, right and centre. It is all popping off so there is loads to discuss.

69: The return of the Champions League and the future of Barcelona

In our latest podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Andre Gonçalves and DW's Oli Moody.

They start off this week's pod by heaping some praise on Manchester City and their attacking force – as well as Kevin De Bruyne – before analysing the most political pass in the history of football and then getting down to the biggest talking point of the match: was it the correct decision to send of Sadio Mané? For once, the pod are unanimous about an issue.

With that out of the way, it is time to preview the upcoming Champions League group stages. Which is the most interesting group? Who is going to struggle? Who is going to strive? And who is going to be the winner? The lads gaze into a crystal ball and give you their predictions.

And there is more. Andre is on hand to breakdown the crisis at Barcelona from all the problems off the pitch with the board to the lack of players coming through. He also has the lowdown on those Andrés Iniesta to Juventus rumours.

68: Sensational Syria and do Liverpool really need Coutinho?

In our latest podcast Ian McCourt is joined by the Onefootball newsroom's Dan Burke and Lewis Ambrose

They start by getting their teeth into the international break and the miracle that is the Syrian national team. In case you have not heard, despite the incredibly difficult conditions in their home country, they have managed to pull off one of the miracles of world football.

After that, they talk England's physiologists, Germany and what their so-called supporters were doing in Prague before they breakdown just why Mesut Özil is so much better for his country than he is for Arsenal.

With that done, it's time to preview the biggest game of the weekend: Manchester City v Liverpool. That means talk of Sergio Agüero v Jesus, why Coutinho's return may be a bad thing for Liverpool and where the Ox will fit in to Jürgen Klopp's side. (Oh, and is Ben Woodburn going to be the greatest player ever?)

And there is more. The pod's Serie A specialist – Nima Tavallaey from Sempre Inter – phones in to explain what is going on with the football giant at the moment, why Gigi Buffon is still the man between the sticks for Italy and

67: The (continued) fall of Arsenal and the rise of Hamburg and Hannover

In the latest Onefootball Podcast, Ian McCourt is joined by Dan Burke and Emilie Rauschütz.

They kick off by finally getting around to talking about Manchester United and their performances this season. It's been three games with three wins, 10 goals scored and none conceded but is it too early to be heaping too much praise on them?

After that Emilie tires to justify Arsenal as her choice for Premier League champions before examining all that is going wrong for them right now. And if you saw the game against Arsenal, you will know it's a lot.

With that done, it's time to talk transfer and the latest goings-ons there before we wade knee-deep into all that has been going on in the Bundesliga where Hamburg and Hannover are in top four and VAR is going down like a rat sandwich.
