    267: Chelsea stay on track, UWCL reaction and will Bonansea leave Juve?

    The OneFootball podcast returns once again to take a look at women’s football across Europe. This week Angelina Kelly is joined by Give Me Sport Women's Nancy Gillen and Olly Roberts. First up and despite Manchester City getting a great 4-0 victory over Birmingham City putting them at the top of the Women's Super League, it was taken away a few days later as Chelsea regained their spot in first place after they beat their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. In addition, with news of a potential transfer of Khadija Shaw from Bordeaux to Manchester City the panel discuss if she would be a good signing for the Blues. Next over to Italy where there has been lots of action in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. Despite bowing out of the cup competition, Juventus have managed to bounce back in the league as they look set to clinch the title. Meanwhile with news of Barbara Bonansea reportedly hiring Mino Raiola as her agent, and a potential move to Lyon on the cards, would this be a good move for the player? Then in the Copa de la Reina there were big wins for Atlético Madrid, Levante, Madrid CFF and Barcelona. With all four teams determined to lift the piece of silverware who will actually make it to the final and win? And finally for this week's hot topic the panel discuss the Champions League semi-final games that saw Barcelona and Chelsea progress to the final of the competition. A win for either side would be historic, but who will be crowned the Champions of Europe?

And finally for this week's hot topic, with the Women's Super League celebrating its 10th anniversary, the FA will be opening a Hall of Fame to mark the occasion. This week Angelina Kelly is joined by Give Me Sport Women's Nancy Gillen and Her Football Hub's Jay Lewis. First up and with the announcement of Joe Montemurro's departure from Arsenal at the end of the season, there is discussion about his decision and his potential replacement. Then onto the Women's Super League where Arsenal celebrated a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby, meanwhile Manchester City and Chelsea, despite both taking three points from their matches, looked a little off their game after their mid-week Champions League fixtures. As well as these games Manchester United made history as it was the first time the women’s team played at Old Trafford which ended in a 2-0 victory over West Ham. Over in the Primera Iberdrola, and Barcelona had a monumental 4-0 win over Sevilla. The four goals not only marked the team's 100th goal but took their goal tally in the league to 103, meaning that the club's goal difference is now a staggering +100. This lead the panel to compare the club's success to that of Lyon in the 2014/15 season and whether Barça can be as good as the French side. Next, in Italy there was a big win for AC Milan over rivals Inter Milan in the Derby della Madonnina which saw Valentina Giacinti put in another impressive performance which had the panel questioning if we could see the star playing in any other European leagues in the future. In addition it was a great 9-1 victory for Juventus over bottom of the table Bari which saw Cristina Girelli score four goals in 24 minutes! And finally for this week's hot topic, the panel discuss the European Club Association's first women's football strategy, the potential of a second-tier European club competition and women's Club World Cup competition in the future. This lead the panel to discuss why this has been arguably the biggest year in women’s football yet!

    The OneFootball podcast returns once again to take a look at women’s football across Europe. This week Angelina Kelly is joined by Her Football Hub's Drew Diamond and Megan Hughes. First up it's the Primera Iberdrola, and despite Barcelona sitting pretty at the top of the table with a nine-point lead, things are really heating up in the race for the two other Champions League spots. Over the weekend Real Madrid lost out on solidifying their position in third place after suffering a defeat at the hands of Levante, who have had a great season so far. Over in the Women's Super League, Arsenal got an important win over Manchester United in a dramatic game as both teams compete in the race for the third spot in the league. In addition there was reaction to the historic broadcast rights deal in England that was announced this week, which means that from next season WSL games will be shown live across the BBC and Sky. Then to Germany where there were some big games in the DFB Pokal including a surprisingly subdued victory for Bayern Munich and wins for Wolfsburg, Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. And finally instead of a hot topic this week, Angelina spoke to Fiorentina and Ireland centre-back Louise Quinn to talk about her impressive career that has seen her play in Sweden, Ireland, England and now Italy, how she has found living in Florence, and the struggles that female footballers can sometimes face.

Then in Italy Juventus triumphed over AC Milan with a 4-0 win that saw them go six points clear of their opposition, with the victory surely indicating that Rita Guarino's team will be crowned Serie A champions for the fourth time in a row. And finally for this week's hot topic, the panel celebrated International Women's Day which included discussions about what women's football means to them, the next steps for the sport and which women in football they admire including the likes of Casey Stoney, Alex Scott and Asisat Oshoala.
